After the patch, the Ash of War can only improve the weapon it is equipped to or any shields that are already equipped; as a result, its effect is largely nullified. The fact that many of Elden Ring's best weapons already have their own Ash of War, which cannot be removed or magically enhanced, makes this nerf even more effective. In PvP, poise is shattered to an unbelievable degree, whereas in PvE, the poise of bosses can feel virtually limitless. However, players such as the YouTuber Varsona Vyzelta demonstrate how Moonveil can slice through poise like butter, and a few swings of Transient Moonlight can bring even Godfrey, the First Elden Lord, to his knees.
